Chief Engineer / Advanced Energy Systems / Onsite Los Angeles, CA

An advanced energy technology company based in Los Angeles is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the technical definition and execution of complex, first-of-a-kind hardware systems. This role is ideal for someone with a mechanical engineering background in aerospace, petrochemical, industrial, or energy sectors who thrives on solving challenging technical problems across the full product lifecycle.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a technically curious, design-minded engineering leader who can guide cross-disciplinary efforts and hold engineering teams accountable to quality, schedule, and system performance.

Responsibilities:

• Drive technical direction across the full product development lifecycle from concept to deployment
• Ensure technical rigor, system integration, and cross-functional alignment across engineering disciplines
• Review and challenge design decisions; identify and mitigate technical risks
• Hold engineers accountable for meeting design, quality, and delivery goals (without direct management responsibility)
• Support hiring, technical mentoring, and engineering culture development

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical, systems, or hardware engineering roles across complex technical programs
• Experience in at least one highly regulated or technically demanding field such as aerospace, petrochemical, industrial, or energy systems
• Strong understanding of design, testing, and integration processes
• Proven ability to lead without authority and influence technical outcomes at the system level

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related engineering discipline
• Deep technical curiosity, high attention to detail, and a strong design-for-reliability mindset
• Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
• Previous experience with first-of-a-kind systems or emerging technologies is a plus
