You will work closely with all members of the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company, but will concentrate on supporting U.S. operations. The right candidate will have a basic understanding of and enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency/digital asset space, 10+ years of experience working for a top law firm, federal or state regulator, or in-house at a brand-name business, and possess strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills. The ideal candidate should also possess experience working on matters pertaining to financial services, cryptocurrency/digital assets, and/or touching upon U.S. laws and regulations related to securities and commodities. What You’ll Be Doing Support the U.S. business in virtually all legal coverage areas, including but not limited to product development, licensing requirements, interacting with governmental agencies, corporate governance, contract negotiation, litigation and regulatory matters, compliance legal support, institutional sales and partnerships, and marketing/advertising. Analyze and advise on the legal risk of new and existing digital assets and related products. Work with the compliance team in obtaining and maintaining licenses, drafting and maintaining internal policies, and working collaboratively to support the compliance function. Collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals, including bringing innovative crypto-related products to market. Assist as needed with corporate governance matters, including maintaining subsidiaries, tracking filing obligations, drafting materials for board and shareholder meetings, and other corporate matters. Assist with managing strategic partnerships related to maintaining company operations and advancing current and future business objectives. Manage legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advise on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders. What We Look For In You Active membership with a U.S. state bar (CA or NY preferred), or equivalent. 10+ years of relevant regulatory licensing experience at a top-tier law firm, government agency, and/or in-house legal team, preferably in a financial services-related industry or other firmly-regulated space. Experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues (or strong interest and knowledge in the field), and a basic understanding (or eager to learn) about the relevant legal/regulatory landscape. Experience engaging with federal and/or state regulators. Experience managing teams (legal and cross-functional) and driving projects to completion on expedited timelines. Experience making strategic recommendations to senior management and senior legal team members. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment. Experience working on matters pertaining to financial services, cryptocurrency/digital assets, and/or touching upon U.S. laws and regulations related to securities and commodities. Ability to navigate through a rapidly-changing legal landscape and deal with novel legal issues. Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of business contracts. Self-starter, quick learner who is highly driven, proactive, responsive, and precise. Nice to Haves Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and with a global legal team. The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
