Salary: 22.00-24.00 hr

Job Summary :

Torrey Pines Dermatology and Laser Center seeks highly skilled and experienced Medical Assistants to join our well-established, fast-paced, and high-volume dermatology practice. Our practice specializes in general, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology, including Mohs procedures, and familiarity with laser treatments and cosmetic procedures or products is a plus. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of recent, hands-on patient care experience and the ability to work independently while thriving as part of a collaborative team.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist dermatologist with examinations
• Assist nurses and dermatologist with procedures
• Guide patients to the exam room
• Take and record patients vital signs, height, and weight
• Prepare and collect lab specimens for testing
• Scribe physical examination findings within ModMed EHR
• Prepare quotes within our POS system, Lightspeed
• Process biopsy and surgical specimens
• Communicate directly with patients to answer questions and relay biopsy results
• Process prior authorizations of medications
• Upload pathology requisitions for incoming glass slides for physician to read
• Sanitize and prepare exam rooms for patients
  
• Take inventory of back office products and supplies
• Prepare patients for surgical procedures (skin tag removal, excisions, chemical peels, and biopsies)
• Assist dermatologist with cosmetic procedures, such as Botox, Fillers and Laser treatments
• Manage follow-up appointments for patients with chronic or recurring skin ailments.

• Communicate verbally using a telephone or in writing using a computer and monitor.
• Assist patients maneuver on table or chair for procedure.

Job Requirements

• Experience with Google Office suite and computer databases.
• Experience properly taking vital signs including respiration, pulse, skin, pupils, and blood pressure.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant
• 
  One year of medical assistant experience in a dermatology office required; two years preferred.
• 
  One year experience using EMR systems
• 
  One year experience collecting vital signs
• 
  BLS Certification
