Position Summary
The Digital Content Manager will be Gilmans chief storyteller across digital platforms, responsible for capturing the energy, values, and character of the school community through a high volume of compelling visual content. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the ideal candidate is a skilled visual communicator who thrives in a dynamic school setting, works comfortably across departments, and brings content strategy to life through engaging digital media.
This is a 12-month, full-time, on-campus role. Occasional evening and weekend coverage is expected.
What You Will Do
Visual Storytelling & Content Creation
Capture Gilmans daily life and special events through high-quality photography and video (100+ events annually), including campus traditions, academics, athletics, student life, and alumni engagement. Produce a steady cadence of short-form video content for platforms like Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Vimeo, such as highlight videos, hype reels, interviews, and storytelling features to inform, inspire, and connect with key audiences. Work collaboratively with Enrollment, Advancement, Athletics, and academic departments to spotlight student success and meaningful community moments. Draft compelling written content to accompany visual assets, including social media posts, blog-style website posts, and website pages. Plan, storyboard, and edit multimedia pieces that support the Schools mission and brand voice.
Social Media Management
Develop and maintain a strategic social media calendar across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo, LinkedIn, YouTube). Manage the scheduling of digital content to ensure consistent and timely distribution across all platforms. Monitor engagement and performance using analytics tools and adapt strategies based on performance and trends. Stay informed of emerging social media tools, trends, and best practices to maintain platform relevance.
Digital Asset Management & Website
Edit, organize, and archive a robust photo and video content library using platforms like SmugMug, Vimeo, and ResourceSpace. Ensure timely updates to Gilmans website, including page content and news stories. Lead digital advertising strategy and execution. Optimize content and layout for SEO, web accessibility, and user experience. Monitor site analytics and make data-informed recommendations. Manage logistics for external professional photo and video shoots.
Schoolwide Collaboration
Maintain a consistent, active presence on campus to identify and document moments that exemplify the Gilman story. Build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and coaches to stay informed about upcoming events and opportunities for coverage. Participate in regular cross-department meetings to source story leads and align on content priorities. Support marketing initiatives across Enrollment and Advancement. Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Required Experience And Skills
Three to five years of experience in digital content creation, marketing, or a related field. Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related area. Intermediate to advanced photography and videography skills; familiarity with mirrorless/DSLR cameras, gimbals, lighting, and audio equipment. Highly proficient in digital marketing tools, including paid media (social and search), Google Ads, SEO Strategies, social media advertising, and performance analytics using Google Analytics. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom) or comparable tools (Final Cut Pro, Canva, CapCut). Experience using and managing CMS platforms such as WordPress or FinalSite. Knowledge of AI tools or new media formats for enhanced storytelling. Familiarity with Google Workspace. Strong storytelling instincts with exceptional writing and editing skills; samples will be requested. Experience developing and executing social media strategies, managing content calendars, and reporting analytics. Detail-oriented, adaptable, and self-motivated, with strong time-management skills Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team in an evolving environment; ability to maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Must be able to communicate effectively with all members of a diverse community. Creative, collaborative, detail-oriented, and energized by school life. Comfortable attending and covering events outside regular school hours. Experience working in an independent school or nonprofit setting is a plus, but not required.
Compensation And Benefits
We are committed to transparency and supporting our employees' well-being. For this role, we offer a competitive pay range of $60,000 to $70,000 based on experience and qualifications.
