Job Description

Job Summary: A Medical Assistant provides care to patients of all ages, within their scope of experience and training in the inpatient, clinic, physician office, outpatient and/or other facility settings. They must administer care using good judgment, methods, and skills under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician.

Responsibilities


  • Observes, monitors, and records physiological measurements.
  • Provides treatment to patients per organizational protocols.
  • Assists providers with patient examinations, therapeutic measures, and procedures.
  • Identifies and meets patients' physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
  • Notifies the appropriate provider promptly of unusual reactions and changes in conditions.
  • Safeguards and inventories equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Follows Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures.
  • Communicates with appropriate sources in response to emergency situations.
  • Performs administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, faxing, filing confidential documents, and using basic Internet and email.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, staff trainings, and weekly team huddles.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.
  • Respects patients by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Uses technology, including specialized software, to maximize productivity.
  • Develops and maintains electronic files as necessary.
  • Provides excellent customer service and collaborates with all levels of internal leadership, management, and staff, as well as with outside clients, vendors, and other external parties.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year of medical assistant experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of a certified medical assistant accredited program preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
