Meter Data Analyst contributes to the configuration, operation, and testing of ERCOT's meter data aggregation system. Including but not limited to generation site netting, meter data profiling, unaccounted for energy (UFE) analysis, settlement calculation, and ERCOT related grid charges.
JOB DUTIES
- Perform and oversee data entry into systems used for settlement calculations. Including verification of both manual and automatic data entries.
- Establish new facilities in the ERCOT settlement system based on information provided by other ERCOT departments and ERCOT market participants.
- Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise in the detailed operations of congestion, profiling, unaccounted for energy (UFE) analysis, settlement calculation and the associated grid/operational ERCOT charges.
- Respond to inquiries related to settlement data from ERCOT market participants/stakeholders and other ERCOT departments. Including but not limited to conceptual questions, disputes and data errors within the scope of the department.
- Writes/develop and executes SQL/SAS queries to generate results used in analytical reports.
- Assist in development of new market rules and updates to applicable internal software systems maintained by the department.
- Develops and maintains a strong level of understanding of the ERCOT markets to include the data elements passed from various parts of the ERCOT market into the settlement system.
- Identifies and recommends improvements to procedures and software to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
- Regularly updates the department of system issues through formal status reports as well as informally via e-mails, chats, voice message and regular team interaction.
- Responsible for notifying superiors and other team members of key issues.
- Develops strong working relationships with the key staff members of the Commercial Operations Department and promotes similar relationships with staff members of other ERCOT departments.
- Clearly communicates complex technical concepts both in a written and oral manner.
- Assists in development of any training for both external Market Participates and other ERCOT departments.
- May provide on-the-job training or oversee work of other analysts.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Level 2 Requirements: Requires minimum 1 year job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- Level 3 Requirements: Requires minimum 3 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- Senior Level Requirements: Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
Salary and level will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience in meter data, generation facility energy netting, energy settlements, and/or aggregation of data used in settlement for utilities.
- Proficiency in programing SQL scripts and/or SAS.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree: Business, MIS, Computer Science or related field (Required)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This position requires availability for after hours and weekends on call duties. The typical on-call schedule is rotational, approximately one week per month.
WORK LOCATION - Taylor, TX
- Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at a minimum of 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
- On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
- Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
- Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

Expected Salary Range:
$92,726 - $157,616
