GENERAL DESCRIPTION

PO/PM’s Mission: To assist clients and Big Rocks colleagues with the highest degree of respect, compassion, and professionalism. Our passion is empowering our clients to identify what is most important to them (their “Big Rocks”) and assisting them with aligning their spaces to their values.

The PO/PM leads projects such as rightsizing and packing clients for a move, unpacking, home organizing, and estate clearouts. They also conduct “Dynamic Duo” home organizing/rightsizing sessions and act as an extra set of hands-on projects they are not managing.

This position is very hands-on and physically demanding, yet rewarding. We create tangible, life-impacting results for our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one (1) year of paid experience organizing professionally and managing projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with older adults and clients who are chronically disorganized, have brain-based conditions, or executive function challenges
  • Ability to meet a diverse array of clients where they are at, without judgment, assess their needs, create client-specific solutions, implement them, provide encouragement and support
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Asks questions and communicates needs or concerns proactively
  • Have a reliable car to transport client donations and materials for projects
  • Have a smartphone and computer and use them proficiently
  • Fluent in Google Workspace applications; ability to learn other software apps quickly
  • Eagle-eye for detail and ability to hold and track myriad pieces/parts of clients’ projects
  • Pass a criminal background check, as a condition of hire
  • Able to lift 30 lbs and navigate stairs and uneven surfaces; able to stand for at least 8 hours per day
  • Comfortable working in an environment that is fluid and flexible.
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19; willing to wear an N95 mask while working in person with clients and team members (we work with lots of vulnerable folks)
  • Must live in the Portland, Oregon Metro Area (relocation expenses will not be paid). Willing and able to travel throughout the region to conduct work activities.
  • Attend team meetings every other Monday from 6-7 PM Pacific on Zoom
  • Must be willing to store organizing kits, boxes, and other materials at your residence and/or in your vehicle

Operations/Logistics

  • Lead team projects as a Project Manager (in-person and off-site)
  • Assess a client’s needs, goals, and abilities and create a plan with them for the organizing session or project
  • Create organized systems for clients in their homes or offices; teach them transferable skills to maintain these systems
  • Work directly with clients respectfully and sensitively, and assist them with decision-making regarding their belongings
  • Follow and uphold Big Rocks’ safety protocols, including COVID safety protocols
  • For projects you are managing:

○ Complete relevant parts of new client enrollment

○ Schedule team members

○ Take before and after photos of client projects

○ Sort items into categories for client decision-making, donation, recycling, shredding, or disposal

○ Safely pack a client’s items for donation, consignment, moving, or storage

○ Carefully unpack a client’s items and put them away in a logical/functional, tidy, and esthetically pleasing manner

○ Coordinate third-party vendors for clients

○ Research resources for clients as needed

○ Be responsible for seeing a project through from start to finish while maintaining excellent communication with both clients and team members

○ Keep projects on time and budget

○ Delegate tasks to team members as appropriate to their level of training and availability

○ Track, document, and summarize project progress to Big Rocks’ standards

○ Keep detailed time and expense records

○ Proactively ask questions and bring concerns to the attention of the Operations Manager

and/or CEO as appropriate

○ Put trash, recycling, shredding, and donation items into the appropriate receptacles

○ Label bins, boxes, etc. using our system, and a label maker or specialty labels

○ Document items as necessary (take photos or inventory of items)

○ Assemble small furniture items, such as storage boxes or shelving units

○ Help maintain a tidy, safe, and professional working environment

  • Use and maintain the integrity of the Team Google Drive, processes, and procedures
  • Upload project/client photos + donation receipts, complete paperwork, follow up with clients, and update project logs promptly
  • Review client project logs and to-do's before and during each project
  • Review Asana and email each workday for assigned tasks and projects
  • Record time and expenses daily
  • Upload photos and information for client projects
  • Maintain company calendar with requested availability

Intake

● Conduct phone, virtual, or on-site consultations with prospective clients

Team Support

● Share your knowledge, training, and experience with Team Members as appropriate

● Continually learn and grow as a professional

● Maintain and remind team members of safety protocols and company processes and

procedures as needed to maintain safety, consistency, and excellent customer service

● Transport organizing materials, supplies, donated items, or recycling to appropriate offsite

locations as requested; manage supplies

Miscellaneous

● Other duties as assigned and agreed upon by PO/PM and OPM and/or CEO

BONUS SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

● College degree in education, sociology, psychology, interior design, social work, human

services, or a similar field

● Experience creating project estimates

● Large car/truck!

● Member of NAPO, NASMM, or ICD

● Ability to pack a box like a boss!

Job Title : Professional Organizer/Project Manager (PO/PM)

Type : Hybrid (Mainly M-F, 9-5, occ. Sat). 85-90% in person; 10-15% remote

● Training rate starts at $20/hr for 1st 90 days; (range $21-27/hr)
