An elementary education opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a 4th grade student who is completely deaf. This position requires fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong ability to facilitate communication within a classroom setting. The student has recently returned from a School of the Deaf and is reentering district education for the first time since early childhood special education.

Location: Kingdom City, Missouri
Type: Contract (Extended School Year - ESY)
Schedule: Part-time, June 327, Tuesday through Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate ASL interpretation for the 4th grade student throughout the ESY program
• Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and classmates to support academic and social engagement
• Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the students needs, ensuring full inclusion in classroom activities
• Collaborate with educational staff to maintain consistent support and advocate for the student's communication rights

Desired Qualifications:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience interpreting for children with hearing impairments, preferably in an educational setting
• Knowledge of educational environments and ability to support a student transitioning from the School of the Deaf
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with educators and students
