Job Description

A K-12 school in Madera, CA is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a contract position for the current school year.

This role requires a qualified professional to facilitate clear and effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and school staff. The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrated experience within educational settings, ensuring accessibility and full participation of students in classroom activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and fluent sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to accommodate students communication needs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of individualized educational plans (IEPs) related to communication.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification preferred.
• Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in K-12 educational environments.
